How We Recommend
Every recommendation on this site comes from the same process, applied to published pricing, terms, and policies rather than to whichever brand pays the most.
The factors we weigh
- Price
- What you actually pay once fees, fuel, and add-ons are counted.
- Convenience
- Door-to-door effort: transfers, lines, pickups, parking.
- Experience
- What the trip itself feels like, not just the arrival time.
- Availability
- Whether the option exists on your dates and route.
- Flexibility
- Change fees, cancellation windows, and one-way options.
- Value
- Cost weighed against time saved and comfort gained.
- User Fit
- Solo, family, business, or gear-heavy outdoor travel.
How we make money
The Modern Rutter earns commissions from some of the brands we recommend. That never changes which option we say is the better fit.
Partner links are marked and routed through a single central system, so a brand cannot buy its way into a recommendation by adding more links to a page. Every outbound partner link carries the sponsored and nofollow attributes.
Where a partner is not the best option, we say so and name the option that is, whether or not it earns us anything.
When we revisit a pick
Prices, routes, and policies change constantly, so each page carries an updated date. We revisit a recommendation when pricing moves meaningfully, when terms change, or when a better option appears.
If something on this site is out of date, treat the published source as authoritative and tell us so we can correct it.
